Tanya Hawkins

Founder & Executive Director

Tanya worked in Property Management for 9 years and Escrow for 4 years before she felt called to serve those in need. She started Gung Ho with her friend Linda Eaton by handing out sandwiches to the homeless community under the Burnside Bridge.

She then started doing garage sales to help fund her bi-weekly outreach. She quickly outgrew her garage and the boutique officially opened for business in October 2011.

Sheila Barger

Board Member

Sheila Barger has been with Tanya and Ben since 2010 when they were having garage sales at their home to support the Coffee Cart and sandwiches outreach for the homeless in downtown Portland. Her work with Tanya then snowballed to helping and supporting the start of Gung Ho Ministries. Since 7 men in her family served in the Armed services/ homeland security,  she wants to honor them by giving back to veterans and the needs of others. Her and her husband Bob continue to enjoy their involvement with the Hawkins and all the wonderful volunteers .
